Gregg Rolie, Ringo Starr 2014 All Star Band Tour

We have seen Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band three times live at Mohegan Sun Casino Arena. It’s always a fun evening as the All Starrs’ perform their hits with Ringo Starr as the centerpiece artist.

Here is the promotional tour video for this year’s North America events. The Connecticut stop is the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford on June 14, 2014.

Meat Loaf – Bat Out Of Hell

It’s been way too long since I plugged into the classic recording, Meat LoafBat Out Of Hell.

Words and Songs Written By Jim Steinman. This is third best selling album of all time at 42 million albums.

What’s your favorite track on the album?

Mine is “Paradise By The Dashboard Lights” featuring the famous love duel between Meat Loaf and Ellen Foley. Listen for Todd Rundgren on guitar, Roy Bittan (E. Street Band) and Edgar Winter on saxophone.

The Band and Upstate NY

We are planning to visit the Adirondacks in upstate New York at the end of this month. When I think of music created in upstate New York my thoughts often turn to the artistic community of Woodstock, NY.

We’ve been influenced strongly over the decades by Woodstock, NY. The Band, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, and Todd Rundgren are just a few of the many musicians associated with this vibrant art community. Its time we pay Woodstock, NY a visit.

We have been to the The Museum at Bethel Woods in Bethel, NY (43 miles from Woodstock), the site where the 1969 Woodstock Music and Arts Festival took place. I wrote about that experience in this blog post, The Spirit of Woodstock at 40.

The Band recording that is getting the most iTunes plays is the second recording simply called, The Band. The follow-up to Music From Big Pink.

Woodstock, NY we’ll see you real soon 😉

Todd Rundgren – ‘Classic’ Todd Rundgren Todd Tour Sun. 6/26/11

It was a privilege to witness Todd Rundgren and his band live in concert last night at Infinity Hall in the beautiful hills of Northwestern Connecticut. The mountain night air was a pleasurably cool 65 degrees added to with a slight breeze.

Rosemary and I had another marvelous meal at the Infinity Bistro. You owe it to yourself to dine there before the show, the food is top notch. We took our usual seats in the mezzanine overlooking the concert hall and stage.

This 300 seat venue has great acoustics. The sold out audience was filled with devout Todd Rundgren fans, many of whom knew each other, which added to the ambiance of the evening

Todd suffered from a head cold due to air conditioning exposure but like the wizard and true star he is he soldiered on admirably with a well structured two hour performance.

Todd was very animated, dancing and jumping about. I enjoyed his guitar work.

You will find more Todd Rundgren concert photos here on Flickr.

Todd Rundgren @ Infinity Music Hall

Sunday night June 26th, Rosemary and I are scheduled to see Todd Rundgren Live In Concert, at Infinity Music Hall in Norfolk, Ct.

We’ve never seen Todd Rundgren in person before so we are eager to catch his performance. We’ve listened to Todd Rundgren’s extensive discography this week to get back in league with his singing, songwriting and creative recording styles.
