Jon Anderson Wins Prog Rock God Award

Next month Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman will be appearing at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Connecticut on October 21st. I can’t wait to see them perform live.

Jon Anderson received the ultimate prize at last night’s Prog Magazine Awards, accepting the Prog God Award from ARW bandmates Rick Wakeman and Trevor Rabin – the trio’s first public appearance since reforming in January. Love the sneakers with the suit 😉

Steven Wilson Remixes

I am very thankful that we have an artist with such instinctual technological skills who brings us these fantastic high-resolution progressive rock remixes. Steven Wilson embodies the true spirit of progressive rock. His genius is our joy.

When I think about how much trust Yes, Robert Fripp of King Crimson, Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull place in his innate abilities it makes me proud to own and promote these recordings. As Jon Anderson has sung, “Your temple is the harmony, You feel the sacred ground”  (from To Be Alive.)

The latest remix is Tales From Topographic Oceans the fifth in a series of expanded Yes (official) classics, released in 3CD/Blu-Ray and 2CD/2DVDA configurations. The album has been remixed in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound from the original multi-track tapes, and approved by Yes.

2 CDs feature the new mix of the original album, an unedited / extended version of Dance of the Dawn (side one), and 5 newly created “single” edits focussing on the song sections of the extended pieces. A third CD available only with the blu-ray edition features a complete alternate version of the album using live tracks and studio run throughs. Of these “High The Memory” (a studio run-through of side 2), and “Ritual” (live in Zurich, April 1974) are previously unreleased.

The Blu-Ray and DVDAs feature the original stereo mix, and the new stereo and 5.1 mixes in high resolution. The blu-ray additionally contains the extended Dance of the Dawn in stereo & 5.1 surround sound, the 5 edits, instrumental mixes, the alternate versions, and other bonus material, all in high resolution.

You can pre-order this item on Headphone Dust here.

Thank you Steven Wilson, you bring such life and resonance to my Progressive Rock music library.

Kansas – The Prelude Implicit

phoenixKANSAS, America’s legendary progressive rock band, will release their intensely anticipated new studio album “The Prelude Implicit” on September 23, 2016. The album is the first new release in 16 years for the band that has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, and is famous for classic hits such as ‘Carry On Wayward Son’ and ‘Dust In the Wind,’ to progressive epics like ‘Song for America’ and ‘Miracles Out of Nowhere.’

“The Prelude Implicit” features 10 all new tracks written by the band and co-produced by Zak Rizvi, Phil Ehart, and Richard Williams. KANSAS’s signature sound is evident throughout the album. It showcases Ronnie Platt’s soaring lead vocals, David Ragsdale’s blistering violin, Williams and Rizvi’s rocking guitar riffs, the unmistakable sound of David Manion’s B3 organ and keyboards, Ehart’s thundering drums, and Billy Greer’s driving bass and vocals.

It was sharing of you Rick Wakeman to allow us fans to help support your recording project on Pledge Music.

I can’t wait to have the symphony of sound wash over my senses.

Thank you Rick. I hope I get to hear you play a selection or two of this recording this fall on the Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman tour.

Until then be well and Excalibur Sir.

Jon Anderson’s Joie De Vivre

I’ve always believed in Jon Anderson. Like John Barleycorn he has proven to be the strongest man at last. The energy surrounding Jon’s musical output is glorious in scope, intent and purpose.

He just finished a successful tour with Jean Luc Ponty. Jon Anderson has two next level projects to share with friends and fans.

Project One

Anderson / Stolt, the brand new duo of legendary Yes vocalist & singer/songwriter Jon Anderson and progressive rock veteran Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings, Transatlantic), have announced the release of their collaborative album ‘The Invention Of Knowledge’ for 24th June 2016 via InsideOut Music.

5f50ec00491c21f62a536105eb3653dc

The idea came to life swiftly off the back of a performance from Roine’s band Transatlantic, and Jon Anderson on the Progressive Nation At Sea Cruise in 2014, and was initially instigated by InsideOut Music label boss Thomas Waber. The duo set about crafting new music in the spirit of early epic works such as ‘Tales From Topographic Oceans’, ‘Awaken’ & ‘Olias Of Sunhillow’, but giving it a modern twist.

Written & recorded over the course of 1 and a half years, the tracks have been in a state of constant change as Roine and Jon swapped & refined ideas by sending tracks to each other via the internet. In March 2015, an ensemble was put together by Roine to realise the music live in the studio. Joining him there was Tom Brislin (who played on the Yes Symphonic tour) & Lalle Larsson on keys, Jonas Reingold & Michael Stolt on bass and Felix Lehrmann on drums. The sessions were also bolstered by appearances from Daniel Gildenlöw, Nad Sylvan, Anja Obermayer, Maria Rerych and Kristina Westas who all provided backing vocals.

The full track-listing for the album is as follows:

1. Knowing 17:45
2. Everybody Heals 13:20
3. Invention Of Knowledge 23:10
4. Know 11.20

Project Two

This collaborative project has the Yes community of fans abuzz with anticipated fulfillment.

LONG-TIME YES FANS, REJOICE! JON ANDERSON, TREVOR RABIN AND RICK WAKEMAN ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT AFTER A HIATUS OF 25 YEARS, THEY ARE TO REFORM THE DEFINITIVE YES LINE-UP AS ANDERSON, RABIN AND WAKEMAN (ARW).

“TO BE ABLE TO SING AND PERFORM WITH RICK AND TREVOR AT THIS TIME IN MY LIFE IS A TREASURE BEYOND WORDS,” EXPLAINS JON ANDERSON. “I’M SO EXCITED TO CREATE NEW MUSIC AND REVISIT SOME OF THE CLASSIC WORK WE CREATED MANY YEARS AGO, IT’S GOING TO BE A MUSICAL ADVENTURE ON SO MANY NEW LEVELS.”
“TREVOR RABIN AND I HAVE WANTED TO PLAY YES MUSIC TOGETHER SINCE THE UNION TOUR,” ADDS RICK WAKEMAN. “AND AS FOR SO MANY OF US, THERE IS NO YES MUSIC WITHOUT JON. THE ‘HOLY TRINITY OF YES’ IS FOR ME, VERY MUCH A DREAM COME TRUE.”

I am ticketed to see ARW in October at the Toyota Oakdale. Can’t wait to experience the definitive Yes.

King Crimson – Live In Toronto

This is the first full concert release by the current line-up of King Crimson. This Official Collectors’ Bootleg captures King Crimson on a single night in the middle of the band’s Canadian tour in November 2015.

This is the first full concert release by the current line-up of King Crimson. This Official Collectors’ Bootleg captures King Crimson on a single night in the middle of the band’s Canadian tour in November 2015. With the exception of one small edit following an announcement before the band take the stage, the running time of this concert is exactly as it was heard in the hall by those fortunate enough to have been there. Even by the high standards set by King Crimson’s current line-up, this concert was agreed by all involved to have that extra special ingredient, making it the perfect choice when seeking an official release to counter the poorly recorded bootlegs that have begun to circulate.

Personnel: Mel Collins: Saxes & Flute, Robert Fripp: Guitar & Keyboards, Gavin Harrison: Drums, Jakko Jakszyk: Guitar & Voice, Tony Levin: Basses & Stick, Pat Mastelotto: Drums, Bill Rieflin: Drums & Keyboards
