I awoke several mornings ago with the beginnings of a song in the music of our heart. I grabbed my iPhone quickly before the “chorus” vanished from my head into the ether. I wrote the four lines into Notes, reading them and smiling to myself that I had the beginning of a song.
I’ve never written a song chorus before in my life. It was a moment that has inspired me. I envisioned sitting at the Baldwin piano in my house with blank sheet music paper, plunking on the keys and creating a melody. I hope I can write the rest of the song.
So why am I sharing all of this with my readers? Because I have discovered an iPhone app that may make my songwriting and perhaps yours more proficient. The app is named Hum.
Hum combines note-taking and audio recording into a single app for capturing and organizing all your songwriting ideas.
The thought occurred to me that I could take the chorus from Notes and move those four lines into Hum.
So I took the impulsive next step. I downloaded the Hum $1.99 app and began experimenting with it. I felt elated and overwhelmed at the same time.
I trust I made the right investment 😉
Nice the hook of a song is always hardest
