Tomorrow night, February 25, 2014 in New York City there will be an important rally and concert sponsored by the Content Creators Coalition. The free event, Artists’s Pay for Radio Play will be held at (le) poisson rouge in the Village at 185 Bleeker Street. RSVP is closed. This is a general admission, standing event.
The United States is the only democratic country in the world where artists don’t get paid for radio airplay. (Only songwriters receive licensing fees for airplay of their material on AM/FM radio.) Currently, the short list of countries that share the United States’ position on this issue includes: Iran, North Korea, China, Vietnam, and Rwanda. On February 25th join music makers and music lovers alike in urging Congress to support artists’ pay for radio play.
The New York City Chapter of the Content Creators Coalition is a new group united with the National CCC behind the idea that creators of cultural content need to join forces to make sure there is fairness and dignity for artists in the digital age.
